I love finding local spots to hunt for books, but I’ve always dreamed of running my own bookstore!
In Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa, Takako finds comfort in a man that runs a second hand bookshop in Tokyo. She recently found out the man she wanted to marry, was cheating on her and he’s gonna marry the woman.
She makes now lives in the small room above the bookshop rent free in exchange for helping out at the bookshop. She develops a passion for Japanese literature, becomes a regular at a local coffee shop where she makes new friends, and eventually meets a young editor from a nearby publishing house who’s going through his own messy breakup.
Things are going well, when her ex shows up and starts to make her life a mess again. This is a quick and cozy read, I finished it in one setting! I hope you get a chance to check out this translated novel!
