This book is a lovely historical fiction book based in India. Maddy was sent to boarding school in England for most of her childhood and is now back with her family enjoying the exotic city of Bombay. She briefly encounters the handsome Luke on New Year’s Eve and love ensues. On the night of her wedding, Luke is sent off to war. While fighting a horrific battle, Luke gets knocked out and loses his memory and is presumed dead. Maddy is encouraged to move on but she can’t quite shake the feeling that Luke is still out there somewhere...
I must say that I enjoyed 75% of this book immensely. I had to skip over a portion about 2/3rds into the book because I just couldn’t handle what was happening!!! Has that ever happened to you??? I literally couldn’t handle it!!!
This is a very well written book and I will definitely be looking into reading more from this author!
