Thank you so much @tlcbooktours for gifting us a copy of The Lost Shtetl by Max Gross!

Imagine a forgotten Jewish town in the woods of Poland. Over looked by the Nazis and untouched by the modern world. They have no idea what atrocities were bestowed upon the Jewish people in WW2. They don’t even know that there was a WW2!

The town sends an ambassador to the big city to report a possible crime and to seek help from the authorities. Yankel was instructed to head to the authorities and then to the Jewish quarter if he is unable to find help from local citizens...only to be laughed at and spit at and told that there is no Jewish quarter. No one will help him and he eventually finds himself being held captive in a mental hospital where everyone believes he is crazy until one day, finally, a doctor is able to corroborate his story. What ensues afterwards is a tidal wave of interest in his village and with that comes the promise of change... but is that change going to be for the better or will it be detrimental for this long-forgotten village?

This was truly an interesting read. The concept immediately grabbed my attention and left me pondering what impact it would have had if it had been a true story!
