The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys. 💞 I am truly in awe every time I read a book by this brilliant author. She always tells a story about history that has been waiting to be told, and you most likely had never heard of, until you pick up her books. This book is based in Spain during the fascist dictatorship of Francisco Franco. Daniel the main character travels to Spain with his family, a photo journalist in the making, he discovers some of Spain’s dark secrets, which put him and those he loves in danger. I was fascinated to learn about this time in history, I enjoyed learning more about Spain and its culture.
