Have you read a book that you expected to be great but disappointed you?

Frankly in Love by David Yoon was a cute story with some heavy topics mixed in, Frank Li is Korean American and deals with some pretty strong cultural identity issues.  He struggled to communicate with his parents both because they were very standoffish with him but also because they weren’t fluent in English and he didn’t speak Korean.  I wanted to love this book and found myself not as fully invested in these characters as I had hoped. The author is the husband of one of my faves Nicola Yoon, so maybe I went in with too many expectations?  He is an excellent writer and did impress me with his witty remarks but I kept finding myself wanting something more.  There was fake dating, humor and love so I totally thought I would adore this. Honestly, David Yoon’s acknowledgments section at the end of the book, moved me more than the actual story. 🧜🏼‍♀️🌺 Thank you so so much @yasbotm for gifting us this book, we appreciate being partnered with you!
