I loved Arsenic and Adobo and was super excited to read Homicide and Halo-Halo!
I grew up with Filipino food and this book had so many of my faves! Arroz caldo, sinigang and ube cookies!
In Homicide and Halo-Halo, Lila is back and she’s opened up a coffee shop with her besties called the Brew-Ha Cafe! She’s the judge in a local pageant and as we all hoped, there is a murder!
Lila brings out some of her old sleuthing skills, but she’s in denial of some trauma and PTSD from the last case she tried to solve. She dives into some real feelings that she’s trying to work through and I appreciated seeing this side of her.
If you enjoy a cozy mystery with some great food and drinks added in, you’re gonna love both of these books!
