I’m so happy I had the chance to learn and read about Nancy! Historical fiction will always be my favorite genre, I love learning about parts of history that I didn’t know before.
Based on a true story set against the backdrop of WW2, Nancy is only 16 when she gets the chance to ride in a plane and instantly realizes she will do anything to learn to fly a plane!
She’s a natural leader and exceptional pilot and quickly realizes that women are just as capable as men of flying. She is determined to help her country and knows that other female pilots are ready to help the war effort too. She is constantly met with barriers simply because of her gender, but she continues to be a positive and steady fighter for her cause.
I loved that her husband Bob was always supportive, also a skilled pilot, who adored her and gave her guidance and encouragement along the way.
She had many other people, many quite high up in the military, also advocating for her and women.
She was a pioneer and deserves to be remembered!
