If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I wouldn’t mind moving to Manhattan like Eliza does in the Gilded Girl.

I absolutely adored this sweet story of Eliza Chapman! While doing her job and enjoying it as a lady’s maid in London, she receives news that her true father in Manhattan, an extremely wealthy businessman, wants her to come live with him.

He didn’t know about Eliza until recently and was thrilled to have her live with him, his two other daughters and his mother. His mother was everything Eliza could ask for in a grandmother, her father treated her like an equal and even allowed her to learn about the business. The two sisters were not nearly as welcoming and as the new girl starting a new season of balls and parties, the sisters thought Eliza should head back home to London as soon as possible.

This is a rags to riches story but with depth, and wonderful characters that made me fall in love with this book. This reminded me a little of Jane Eyre, one of my favorite classics, but not as dark.

Thank you so much @katerockbooktours for this gifted copy! Gilded Girl by Pamela M. Kelley is available to purchase on our Amazon storefront!
