Your Presence is Mandatory by Sasha Vasilyuk was a fascinating book about a Ukrainian Jewish man fighting for the Red Army during WW2. I’ve read a lot of books about this era but not much in this setting. I couldn’t help but think about current events and how the two were related. Yefim has a secret about his time during the war and he is terrified that the truth will come out, and it affects his day-to-day life.
