Have you ever read a book that gave you really mixed feeling about it?👀

White Ivy by @susieyyang was kind of that book for me. The writing was so well done and readable, which is my favorite! I had zero clue what this book was about and I never even read the cover for the synopsis. Had I looked this up I would have seen this: “𝙄𝙫𝙮 𝙇𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙛 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙧—𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙩 𝙗𝙮 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙚𝙧.”

It’s weird when the writing is so well done but you don’t actually like any of the characters. You keep hoping you’ll find a redeeming quality, but you never really do. I was able to relate to Ivy in one way, she was born in Asia and moved to the US at a young age.🇰🇷 But her family didn’t have a lot of money and as they struggled to get by, she learned how to survive, in any way she could. As she tries to figure out how to fit in, she is confused about who she really is. I think this book will surprise you if you pick it up, it was nothing like I expected and I truly can’t tell you too much about it, without spoiling things!🧜🏼‍♀️🌺 Thank you to Simon and Schuster for this gifted Advanced Reader’s Copy!
