In Sight of the Mountain by Jamie McGillen has given me that feeling!
Anna Gallagher a young woman living in Seattle in the late 1800s is determined to climb Mt. Rainier. This is considered to be unladylike behavior, and her family will be angry if they find out she has this longing. She begins to realize that she will not be happy settling down a well-established man that expects her to stay at home, cook and have children.
She needs adventure and excitement in her life and wonders how a man will be able to fit into this lifestyle.
Anna works hard to prepare and she makes the final decision to summit the mountain with a group of mountaineers. I loved how this story ended and appreciated Anna's humbleness and love for her friends.
I adored the characters in this book, and LOVED learning more of Seattle’s history. I have passed this mountain many times and it’s truly breathtaking when it’s visible. I am thrilled that this is the first book in The Rainier Series and can’t wait to start the next one!
