Ana Johns writes this beautiful story set in 1950s Yokosuka and Yokohama and it reminds me of why I love historical fiction so much. The Woman in the White Kimono skips back and forth to present day in America, where Tori Kovac tries to solve a mystery that her dying father seems to have left behind.
All of Tori’s life, her father would tell her stories of his time in Japan, a beautiful country, a wonderful lady, a magical wedding, a life that he had lived before he met her mother.
Tori didn’t understand that these were not just stories and as she starts to put the clues together, she realizes this goes much deeper than she ever expected.
I went to Japan a few years ago, and it’s one of the most fascinating places I’ve had a chance to visit.
I always enjoy reading books about places I’ve been to.✈️ Ana Johns accomplishes what not all authors are able to do, she’s able to seamlessly tie the time periods together in a satisfying way. I hope you get a chance to read this book, it publishes tomorrow!
